TSC to Host “Silent Saturday” on Saturday, September 14
Franklin, TN – In an effort to encourage positive support from the sidelines, Tennessee Soccer Club plans to host “Silent Saturday” on Saturday, September 14 during the Battleground Tournament of Champions. This club-wide initiative will focus on only providing positive encouragement from the sidelines during TSC games. The silent doesn’t mean “no noise,” rather “no negativity!”
“Our hope is that every player who steps out on a soccer field feels encouraged and supported from the sidelines by parents and coaches,” said TSC Executive Director Stuart Brown. “We know that our players get energized when parents are into the game and cheering from the sidelines, and our goal isn’t to minimize that! All we’re trying to do is eliminate the negative noise that you hear at times.”
Silent Saturday also applies to TSC Coaches. Earlier this week they received communication from Age Group Directors touching on the importance of following this initiative along with all parents and spectators.
Ultimately, TSC feels that silencing the negativity and replacing that with increased positive and constructive feedback will have a massive positive impact on every single players’ overall development. Players will get the most out of the game when they're able to play freely, make their own decisions and learn from their own mistakes.
